Admittedly, in the world of cycling, the Mavic A119 rim is proffered as a beginner or starter rim.  So if you have recently discovered the thrill and freedom that cycling enfolds, what better place to start than with a wheel set that offers improved performance that is easy on the pocket book.  The A119 is fun because it is versatile and dependable.  The rim is comfortable holding a voluminous 700x28 – 42 tire (manufacturer’s recommendation), and due to the rim’s width and design, mounting and changing tires should be accomplishable without the use of profanity, (unless if you’re a professional sailor, in which case wouldn’t it be a requirement?).  

Additional features of the Mavic A119 rim include, but are not limited to, stainless steel single eyelets at each spoke hole to help support spoke tension, rim sidewalls that have a CNC machined surface to improve braking performance, and a wear line indicator on the rim sidewalls to offer a visual aid in determining the remaining potential life of the rim itself.  Last but not least, these rims are drilled with a valve hole to accept schraeder valve tubes, but include a plastic valve hole adapter that allows the use of the smaller diameter presta valves.  I like that...

Shimano 2200

This particular wheel set utilizes Shimano 2200 road hubs.  These hubs, like all hubs from Shimano, utilize loose ball bearings that are easy to access, easy to clean, and easy to re-lubricate.  (While the process of cleaning and re-lubing the hub itself is rather straightforward, we highly recommend that this service be performed by a trained and certified bicycle mechanic; as this type of maintenance directly impacts the functionality of the hub and the wheel as a whole and requires specific tools and torque requirements.)  Additionally, and in no small part due to Shimano’s excellence in design and manufacturing, a properly lubricated and adjusted Shimano hub set has the potential of lasting tens of thousands of miles, using all the original parts.  (Conversely, a poorly lubricated and improperly adjusted hub from any manufacturer may not last very long at all.)  Considering that these wheels have the potential of lasting tens of thousands of miles, you will be hard pressed to find a better value of cost per mile elsewhere. 

In summary, this wheel set is a great place to start if you're looking for an easy to live with, comfortable everyday wheel set.
